Displays/exhibitions
Apart from doing around 12 or 14 hours a week in classes, our championship dancers give displays all over the south-east of England -- anywhere from local community centres to large venues in central London. [You can see a few pictures from a display in Pitsea, below.]
They do this all year round to raise funds* to cover travel and accommodation at major competitions. After spending twelve months raising money for the North American Championships in Toronto (June 2001), they moved on to the next job -- fundraising for Boston 2002 -- as soon as they returned home.
Displays involve from 9 to 20 dancers (depending on location, time of day, size of venue, etc) and usually last from 20 -- 30 minutes. The standard is excellent, and always gets a good reception. The organiser pays a fee, agreed in advance, and the dancers usually collect donations from the audience afterwards, dividing whatever is raised equally between all dancers.
The dancers work very hard, and their commitment is incredible. The time spent on classes, displays and competitions mean they have very little time for a social life, while the older girls also have schoolwork and examinations to keep up with (and they do!)
If you are organising an event and would like further details, please email us. Apart from making sure that the venue is suitable and appropriate for the dancers, we're very flexible.

We thought the whole group was in this shot, but where's Alanna?
Ah, there she is!
Look at the poor guy in the band -- we told you to go easy on those trebles, Kyleigh!
Izzy, stamping her feet as usual!
Come on Jo, you can't stay up there all night!
This was a great display, and everyone gave it all they had. The audience were in no doubt that they'd seen a good show, and everyone ended up on a high!
